Industry Best Practices

Since its inception ServerVault has focused on providing secure, reliable and compliant IT infrastructure and services. As such we have developed—and are continually seeking to improve—a set of operational best practices that are second to none.

These best practices include:

Hardware/Software Architecture

ServerVault uses best of breed equipment with the goal of maintaining the highest levels of security and reliability. We are under no obligation or incentive to use a specific vendor in any instance, and routinely accommodate customer preferences.

Secure Network Design & Engineering

ServerVault’s network is configured to ensure system isolation, so that there is no horizontal access between customer systems.

Implementation/Provisioning

ServerVault builds, configures and tests each device of the environment, ensuring that risks are mitigated and security is assured when the environment is turned over to the customer for application or data load.

Tailored Operations

As one example of many customized elements, ServerVault applies Intelligent Patch Management, which takes into account the fact that not all patches work or are necessary. ServerVault’s experts review each patch for compatibility and necessity to avoid system conflicts or downtime sometimes associated with many patches.

Facility Management

ServerVault continuously monitors power loads, fire detection systems, physical security, cooling levels, and other aspects of the facility infrastructure via a sophisticated and integrated Building Management System (BMS).

Customer Support

ServerVault’s first line of support is technical, so for example, we will typically not just page a customer regarding an issue, but will attempt a real-time analysis of the situation so that the communication with the customer can include recommended next steps. For example, ServerVault’s approach would not be to send a message that a disk appears to be full, but rather to suggest that the customer compress the log file to free up space.

Change Management

ServerVault places a tremendous emphasis on change management, having recognized that these are key areas of potential vulnerability. Customers can participate in change management exercises in real-time via ServerVault’s SecureView portal.

To help demonstrate ServerVault's understanding and practical application of physical, logical and procedural security, we invite you to receive an excerpt of ServerVault’s Best Practices for Secure IT Infrastructure.
